My absence has all been due to school and transitioning into this new life. I love my school, and it just feels so good knowing that this is what I am supposed to be doing. Just in case you forgot I am in Cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell. I love all of my teachers and I do love the students I get to work with everyday. It is such a big transition in the ways I am allowed to express myself and my creativity (a bit overwhelming at first I would say.) As a psychology student who has written thousands of papers, you learn how to be creative in your writing but there is such structure and outlines of what your paper is supposed to be, and then switching to cosmetology school you are just kind of thrown out there and you are allowed to be as creative as you can be, and are encouraged to reach and think outside of the box and they want you to fail in a sense that you will learn. You almost have to fail to understand what you are doing, and that my friends is scary. Even so, I know in my heart of hearts that I am on the right path and that feels good, and it is becoming less overwhelming and natural everyday.

It is such a wonderful place to learn and I love what I am doing.

I also get to do dream jobs like this.

I get to work with such amazing and talented people, that inspire me. I get to work with individual people that do what they love and come together for a beautiful outcome. I'm a lucky girl.

tonight I opened our sliding door to check to see if it was too cold outside to eat dinner on our patio.
i left it open as I was talking to chase, and a kitty ran inside and i had to chase it down to put it outside.
that might have been the hardest thing i ever had to do (not really)
this kitty has been around our apartment before
and sometimes it meows really loudly
it breaks my kitty lovin heart

one day, i will be a kitty mommy.
you can bet your bottom dollar on it.

and no, it wasn't a kitty per se it was cat. i use the term kitty loosely.

I had a wonderful birthday on the 5th.

My husband was gone on business

so I spent the whole week with my mom

and grandmother.

It truly was wonderful.

For my birthday my sister, nieces, grandmother, and mom

went to lunch at the best burger joint.

It is called S&B burgers.

if you live in the metro area you MUST go.

My husband got home on saturday

so he took me to dinner and cuppies and joe

Think Bronze Clinque Lipstick

Use it as a lipstick and/or blush

I really love this color, especially in the summer, and since monochromatic makeup is a fall trend

I'm excited that it will work perfectly in the fall as well!

it has a nice ahem bronze color, so it just gives skin a beautiful sun kissed glow.

I also love this lipstick because it is so moisturizing and not drying!

so I'm not worried about flaky lips.
and this is hard to beat at only $14.50

Clinque Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum

I love this stuff.
Who's pores don't need a little help?
It gently clears out debris and rough flakes and goes on so smoothly.
I never forget to put it on because I love it so much.
I not only use this to help keep my pores clean and strong and less oily

Just a tip on how to make the mister in your life feel needed and a bit like a superhero

when their is a bug around your house

just grab the nearest bowl or cup

and capture them in it

but you must leave the capturing device and bug right where you capture it

and leave it there so your mister can dispose of it.

its a masculine job

and for an added surprise effect

don't even tell him that you captured a bug in the middle of the hallway,

just let him find it!

I have successfully made my mister feel like batman about a dozen times already, and most of the time it's been left as surprise for him.

"But I always say the best kind of prize is a surprise!"

{name that movie, morg you can't play}

{which is surprising he doesn't know when I do because I have a specific bug scream and I am sure I am not quiet about scrambling for the nearest bowl or cup, I also only use the bowls and cups he uses.. sweet I know.}

Just in case it doesn't work and he might get upset because you don't kill bugs because you know they will jump and attack you OR you just don't like the feelings (physically and emotionally) of killing a bug just flash him your best smile

and he will gladly dispose of it.

I stumbled upon this article and I could not be happier that I did and agree more with it! Especially since I have two beautiful nieces and want them to feel and know how wonderful and beautifuly made they are because they are who they are. Not because of how beautiful their appearance or size, shape, and whatever color they may be. They are perfect. I also needed to read this and realize this myself. I need to stop looking in the mirror and hating my appearance, and wishing I was thinner and feeling well if only I was this size then I could accomplish this or be this and that. My very sweet husband

who actually pays attention to me (even thought I never let on that I think this)

took me to the circus on thursday night for our anniversary.

i made it very obvious that is where i wanted to go

and said, "i really hope we sit on the front row

so i can see the elephants up close."

and my friends

that is exactly where we sat!

the FRONT row!!

he also took me there an hour early because i asked

because you go to go on the floor and socialize with the circus performers

and watch the elephant paint a picture :)

my favorite elephant had to be the oldest one (who also had a very old trainer)

she coudln't quite keep up with the others

and she ended up just laying down the whole time

my heart melted until i almost died

i almost died when i bought cotton candy for 12 dollars.

(i thought it was 4, but i think that might be the prices of straws for your drink..)

chase even took me to Pei Wei before

and didn't say a thing about how much i ate off his plate

and mine

i also didn't take my camera because on the website it said they were strictly prohibitted.

everyone had their camera. booo

i did get some on chases iPhone

so maybe i will get around and post them here

Remember that one time on Mt. Fuji?

One time

my friends and I climbed Mt. Fuji in Japan

not only was it off season, but it was at night so we could watch the sunrise

we got to the top almost 2 hours before the sun was supposed to rise

and it was cold

really really cold

so we all spooned fully clothed

{it was seriously debated if we wanted to get naked to spoon, because apparatently you get warmer that way?}

we were all a little out of it and exhausted.

the trek down was fun and really hot.

I also pulled a groin muscle going up the mountain so going down the mountain was miserable

and when we got to the bottom

{after getting lost, and the girls crying cause we knew we were going to be lost in that forest forever}

we had to wait for our taxi to pick us up

so we waited in a restaurant

and we all fell asleep

{it's funny to me because in both of these situations I thought I was spooning with my dear friend jason... and neither of those things actually happened with him. I also didn't spoon with anyone when we fell asleep in the restraurant. Staying up for almost 48 hours and climbing a mountain makes you a little incoherent.

The very next day is when we were introduced to our host families.

I was sick and I could hardly walk.

Plus, I was really nervous about living with my host family and be separated from my Pac Rim family.

This is what I looked like.

This is seriously one of my favorite memories. I wouldn't trade the swollen eyes, stuffy nose, pulled groin for anything.

i have a pretty obsessive personality. i also believe i am definitely a creature of habit, when i like something i really like something. when i like a song its all i can listen too. i could eat a sandwich everyday for lunch. when i crave chocolate chips cookies they are all i can eat and bake. i eat green olives everyday. i also have a hard time eating cheeze-its without being able to wash it down with a dr. pepper. i am obsessed with otter pops. it's a summer time staple.

i was looking in the freezer last night and the ice cream was sitting in an awkward place so i moved it, and all of a sudden the angels started singing and i started weeping and dancing and joyfully singing along with the angels i tell you! there behind the ice cream sat beautifully a bag of otter pops!

my sweetie husband bought me otter pops. later that night when i asked him about it he said that he saw them at the store and thought, "oh, makenna will love these, but i must hide them so she doesn't eat them all in one day." it's true. sad, but true. i could eat the whole bag in one day. even if i'm full. i proudly can say that I only ate 3 in row.

I love that this is also so versatile

you could make a batch of it

and use it for anything your heart desires.

Chocolate Chip Chili

{This is another meal that most people consider a winter food, alas I feel it is more of a summer food.}

Linguine with spinach, artichokes, and red lentil sauce**

Hasselback potatoes with spinach cashew pesto

{I would rather use the cottage cheese pesto sauce yummmy}

Yellow lentil soup with cilantro**

I can't wait to try these recipes!

If I can muster up the will power to do the dishes after.

**Lentils are lovely, they are so good for you, but I would make sure to eat them at home for dinner when you are not planning to go back out... lentis are a magical food, the more you eat the more you toot. So I wouldn't make this for someone if it is a date or you haven't exposed that side too.**

A day in the park

A little while ago

Chase and I took Stella to the park

and it was so much fun.

Of course Stella was a big girl and didn't want help with anything

{I bet it was because she was showing off for Chase}

She loved sitting in this seat while taking a water break

We stopped and got frozen yogurt and she loved it. Except she ignored me, and only wanted chases blueberries and yogurt. Typical. He's pretty sweet on the eyes so I understand.

I have a really awesome mom. She is beautiful and so helpful and kind and just everything a mom should be.

I mean, this woman has put up with me for 22 years.

That is an accomplishment.

She has been so supportive of me and has been to everything of mine.

She makes the best meals ever and helps me with my pies.

She is the best yaya and it makes me weepy to see her with her grandkids because I know that is how she treated me when I was little.

I got to spend time with my lovely family

Husband graduated grad school

now he studying for the CPA

I tried to make dinner tonight

it ended in tears while the fire alarm went off

husband took me to get ice cream for dinner

I got to pick out my favorite.

I got a new camera as a graduation present :)

hopefully that means I can keep track of the cord that uploads photos

so my posts wont be as boring

I really don't like baseball

(although I love playing softball, emphasis on playing not watching)

I really don't get why everyone is obsessed with it.

I was talking to one of my best friends about how I don't like baseball

and she infact does.

She isn't one of those crazy fans that will jump down your throat because you said that

or punch in the face or something stupid like that.

So we were able to discuss the reasons I don't like it.

The number one reason I don't like it is because of the

you are a band-waggoner

So I have never been able to pick a team I liked as a non embryo

because alas I would be a band-waggoner

It is SUCH a dilema

So Tara told me I should give baseball one more shot

she said since it is opening day you can chose your team

therefore you won't be hoping on anyones wagon

So I regressed back to my embryo state and decided that I would give the Yankees a try.

2. Because if I wanted to watch them play, I would have to go to New York

Last week

This is going to be one the most ridiculous sounding statements I will ever make
(uh, probably not, there will always be more)

God new what he was doing when he gave me my Mom
duh.

One of the most intimate verses and favorite verses to me is this

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb"

This is intimate to me for two things

1) that God did this, and that he knows me

2) That he knit me together in my mother's womb.

How special is that.

He already knew who I was before I was even created

but he goes and makes it even more special

He knitted me inside of her.

It brings me to tears just thinking about how special that is

and how special she is.

The past couple of weeks have been really hard on me

(and by really hard I mean the waterworks come at any moment, and the blows that just keep coming make it harder, and I have been drinking chamomile tea like it's going out of style)

She has been there for me

she talked to me on the phone

and worked that magic that mom's have

and gave me the best advice.

She gave me the best Godly and Christianly advice.

and I am so thankful for her.

I am so thankful that God chose her to me my mom

and for me to be her daughter.

I have been made fun of since '06 for liking them

it was either not country enough or not "hard" enough for the people at my high school

I can hardly believe it
I feel like it was just yesterday that I found out my sister was pregnant
found out that she was having a girl
and the first time I met this chunk of sweetness
I can't believe that she is already one

I can't even remember what my life was like without her in it

But, I love it, and I can't stop dancing, and I love the way that it brings me comfort in a time that everything is going so well, I really am the happiest I have ever been, I am not sad at all, I just have some fears that creep in, and this song makes me feel better, and those fears escape for the time being.

I don't like making new years resolutions, I don't really even like new years, maybe it's my stick in the mud tendencies, but sometimes, I don't like change.

But I have one, and on January 11 I have made it (besides my new years resolution to floss twice a day, and use mouth wash) I want to live fearlessly.

I have been saying for a while now that when Christmas break comes, I am cleaning out my closet, and getting rid of all the clutter and nonsense ~~husbands stupid shelves~~ and making our small space live able. I don't mean to hold on to material things, but I am really bad at throwing special things away. Like cards from loved ones, hair lockets, etc. I know that it's okay to hold onto these things, I just need to make myself a memory box and where it has its own special place. I also need to do something about my Pac Rim memories, and actually print pictures off. I have an idea in my head about what I want to do, so maybe this can be accomplished over Christmas break. But the main reason I am posting is because it is like fate, I need to go through my closet and purge all my clothes that I don't wear. Trust me, it is a lot. I want a working closet. This christmas (with my monetary christmas presents, or gift cards to anthropologie) I am going to get me some staple pieces of clothing. Well, I was perusing through my favorite blogs and happened upon this, it was like a miracle! An awesome fashion blogger is talking about how she is making a working closet.. I jumped with joy, screamed like a little girl, and jumped write over to my blog to tell you about the miracle that is going to happen over christmas break.

Anywho I am done with this semester, my last final was this morning. I didn't study. My brain is fried. Sorry for this ridiculous post. I am running on 3 hours of sleep, red bull, and coffee.

I hope everyone that is going home for the holidays has a great time, and is safe in their travels. I love Christmas, I love my family, and I can't wait to see Chloe's face when I get her stickers and a coloring book. Stella will also be excited because I have connections and I got her the gig of performing as the main dancer for Willow Smith's hit song, "I whip my hair and back forth."
